“”It goes to conference committee… Once the representatives from the house and senate in that committee finish with it, that becomes the final version for voting. It will return to the house and the senate, without option of amending, for up or down votes. The house Republicans and blue-dog dems will be unable to prevent it passing the house.
However, the senate can still refuse to allow it to come up for a vote through filibuster. Typically, the Senate is less responsive to “customer complaints” than the house is, so we are likely to be screwed. Of course, once it passes the Senate, Obama will sign it and it’s a done deal.
So the ONLY chance we have is to pressure members of the Senate.”"
