i talked to another friend who was a TV producer .. she says the job i’m doing , is called an “assistant inline editor”

going rate is like $24-$70 hr.

I’m at my wits end in this “intern ship” and i use the term loosely becuse sat this point its ‘ more like slavery…

i was told 3 weeks ago that i was being kept and I’m now “contract”
but nothing has changed I’m still doing 36-60 hr a week for only $100 wk. which is crazy.

i get blown off or pushed aside in a lot of things i am literally doing everything at this startup ,

( i’ve done a commercial spot, 2 promos, set up his networking, Google bizness , let him use MY server to host client files because his is not configured correctly.. made a label mock up for another project and he has me use MY personal email to mail clients .. )
but i don’t think this is right.

I have no written contract and I’m tired of being lead to believe I’m getting one . I’m in limbo between intern and employee, and in the past 2 weeks their has been no visible effort to solidify what my position is , yet he will brag about my work and tell people I’m staff…. but i don’t see it reflected at my end , in either compensation or paperwork..

I’ve tried to just be quite and keep my head down but it’s getting to the point i can’t make rent and I’m being given work on projects for other clients that are outside…. WAY outside what my understood task was.

( AVID intern, if you could call it that i don’t feel I’m learning any thing NEW i took the AVID class and I”M training the new guy , while my boss is taking the credit for cuts i honestly don’t really like and know in my heart will have to be redone because they simply do not fit the mood of the documentary.)

i no longer feel like this is going to go anywhere and i can’t keep hearing just one more week….. then we get the new contract . BS.

I have sent out resumes to other studios …
heck the runners that work in the studio across the hall
get 10$ hr.
i need to completely re-think my strategy here
can you help me .? is this normal?
or am i totally getting screwed here?
