valintines day.
Valentines day turned out to be not that bad. We went to an Irish festival at the civic center. had a lot of fun, got to see the step dancers live for the first time. Matt now wants to take classes. He is so cute.
I think yesterday was the first time I’ve seen him smile in over a week. I’m glad we ended up going.
The day started out not the best. But Matt said it was perfect for what we were doing cold and rainy like Dublin,
We met a bunch of cool venders I bought a pack of hand printed Celtic knot greeting cards from a women whom we found out was from the next town over from Muskegon, which was cool. Gave him someone to talk to for a bit. I know to top every thing off he is still a bit homesick. Then while we were looking through Coat of Arms we met a nice old couple from Albany NY.
Matthew had fun showing off his tattoo to just about every body there.
Lets see we wondered onto the Pub stage, and the Peelers were playing. They are a semi-traditional Celtic group from Canada.
We talked to the band and hung out a bit. Exchanged a few stories.
They did a song they wrote about Savannah from last St. Patrick’s day. It was cool.
We had fun watching the older crowd they were really getting into it.
Like when dad does Sosa marches with the PBCB.
We sat up in the bleachers and watched a few other band s and the festivities below in the room, I had some good stew he had a beer.
We watched a bunch of 13 year olds being 13 year olds.
We stepped out a sec to get some air, and met fine drunk lass, that turned out to be Matt “neighbor” it was funny. After her telling us how she sold her condo (like every 3 minutes or so) we gathered she had come down to live with her parents while house hunting. Apparently she is 37 and they are treating her like a 2 year old so; well, they might have they’re reasons. But apparently they keep her cooped up which is understandable it seems to be driving her nuts. We were going to “rescue” her from her parent’s house that night. But we kind of had a bet she would be to drunk to remember to call.
After that we sat a bit, watched another group of step dancers this one had a little girl maybe 3 dancing with the big girls, she was so cute.
After that we made our last round of the festival then headed home.
We stopped at subway.
I must say I have never been so proud of Matt he actually had 2 cheeses on his meatball sub. I know that sounds like a minor thing but I’m sure most of you have never witnessed his eating habits. Believe me it was an occurrence of monumental portions…
We when home and sleep a bit, fussed on the computer.
Then waited for the phone call we only half expected to come from the drunken neighbor. Well I said call at 7:30 we didn’t leave till 9. So we tried. We joked a Good chunk of the night weather or not we would find her either passed out on his deck of in the driveway.
I said if she is in the driveway when we get home we call her thump thump, Matt adopted that joke for latter. :-p
We headed down town with the intention of going to O’Connell’s where the peelers were playing a set that night. But I was a 1$ short from cover. So we grumpily got back in the truck. And went to McDonough’s which is my regular hang out .I felt a bit worse being matt finally confided that O’Connell’s was his. And he was looking forward to that. I said I’d go to the ATM and we could go back but he was a bit tired and grumpy last night, but wanted me to be happy so went along any way, even though I did give him the option of going home. He is very sweet… And it turned out aright. Around the time we were getting ready to leave, some random person took a cell call right next to us. And being the bar one of fun things to do is find out every one else’s business.
Apparently his buddy, who was supposed to be their DD, had gotten a bit drunk and proceeded to harass his friend, (who was standing next to us at the bar with his corona), we getting bits and pieces and it just got funnier. Ed:(on phone next to us): what do you mean you’re too drunk to walk?!! Where the hell are you? What? Driving ?!! Were the…. You’re in HINESVILLE!! . Dude we are down town what the hell….
It was pretty funny, matt was dieing at this point. This went on for a while until he confessed he was at the SCAD dorms. .
Ed hung up and we invited him to our table to get the story.
We had fun hanging out; Ed was there with his buddy so they both joined us.
We chatted for a bit. Till I ordered a red headed slut; and matt got the other 2 to order them.
While we were sitting their Ed had like 4 shots now for those of you that don’t know. These are fairly strong drinks. But they taste like cranberry juice so you really don’t notice the Yeager and Ect. McDonough’s mixes strong drinks so after like the 2nd or so Ed having already had a few coronas was really getting out there.
But in a good way.
It really was quite the act, I have portion of it on tape; I brought my Sony with me as always. But all that really mattered was he made matt laugh. We have his # so I’ll probably call him to hang out around St Patrick’s Day. We all had fun.
After his 4th RHS, it was 1 am. Matt and I decided to go home. His buddy thought the corona was making him drunk. Took the corona away.
And I left laughing really hard. Got home in a better mood then we left in so it was cool.
And that was my valentines day.
Oh Ginger that random message on your phone was from a very drunk Ed after he stole my cell phone for a bit..
