Friday , spent most of the day tagging around after Simontek… ther just wasn’t enough time this weekend … hung out in hardware hacking village realized i reallllly suck a remebering faces to names .

especially  when people who you met 2 years ago.

because technically it’s been 2 years since i really was AT defcon

.. any way they look different

and if your husband introduced you to someone

by #1 there “REAL” name not there “handle” that hard enough

but combined that with them not looking like them selves……

any way I had brain farts with DT and KingPing

then again last time I saw DT , he had dyed hair either bright red or blue

and i remember the red spike wrist bands ..because I wanted them…

and he was skinny , he is like all buff now .  now he looks all respectable .

and Kingpin had nearly black spiky hair ..

…. that and being tired didn’t help….

over all this con was tame compared to past cons which was kinda cool

you really had the feeling that Defcon had grown up like 18 was the year that we send Defcon off to college.

which is kinda true . It graduated from Riviera High school  after 5 years ,and is going to Rio College for it’s Bachelor in CS….

so any way .

beside me being stupid and wishing people just wore paper bags on there heads with there avatars or twitter pics stapled to them..   i had fun .

on Friday . I took Simontek   to Kady’s and we met up with Rev , for brunch..

latter that day Simontek was off playing with Ch0l0man  or wait no he was doing contests and I was hanging out with the Cisco bunnies and blowing Priests balls …  I need to find pictures of those …. Priests balls are HUGE.

ok next was hardware hacking village i’m not a huge hardware hacker but it fascinates me

what iAS able ot do this year was get the badge to have my loogs on it .

i started fiddling with tis Friday .. reading the manuals ect . nad thinking about stuff.

next was dinner at the Pepper mill with RyanLRussell and Gillis57, wehad fun WAY too muhc inuendo. i wish i had video of that.

at one point i ordered a red headed slut ..

and the looks from the guys were funny enough but the waitresses phrasing to Ryan was pricless.

” would you like to share a red headed slut with her.” and the threesome jokes billowed for there.

so once that was done .

we geared up for the hackerpimps party. which is wear one of only  2 majior instances occured this year.

and I can safely report thatte trouble maker was NOT a conattendee but a non-Con party crasher that was off his meds.

and PReist whose has GINORMOUS BALLS ,  was able to safely and discrete ly evacuate the party in under 20 minutes were we safly out and back in and the idiot that pulled a knife was being escorted out of the hotel by the L.V. sheriff  .

he told us what happened and of course we applauded our Goons for again keeping us safe .

at the hacker pimps party badges seems ot of taken on .. a weird disney theme this year…

Priest was lecturing everyone on a few bad eggs who had dined and dashed at Kady’s the hotels dinner that has good food but horrible music ..

any way in true community fashion

a collection was taken up in track 1 and not only was enough money collected to cover the dashers bills. but there was a bag of change to be used for flogging and over 1k of extra money to be donated to the EFF.

freaks party , badge hacking and  the Goon swim

so last weekend I was at Defcon.

It’s a yearly thing that normally falls the same weekend as my birfday! so that my little retreat .

I suppose I should start at he beginning though..

as some of you know . ..whomever actually reads this blog…….

the week started even earlier then that .

on Friday the  23rd  my company informed me that I taking the Siggraph qube certification  on Sunday – Monday .

and I when and took it . it was fun in a geeky sort of way that Adhoc networks and cross platform computer jabbering is ….

on Tuesday I worked at my job.. for technically 1 day doing normal work .

 Tuesday night :

I called up my roommate and ride last minute and did the polite thing, offered to still pay for his gas, but let him know I was getting a different ride up.

I pay-paled him the monies for gas and a room…

durring this time my husband who has been separated from me since June 30th , keeps asking me when i’m getting to defcon,telling me stories that he is having a friend drop stuff off and probing me for info about anything he may to send to me . ect.

I told him I wanted Austin..

one of my schnauzers because he is smallest and easiest to smuggle on the plane. ..

although I miss all 3 of them .

Tuesday night i when to the shotgun party and ended up meeting with  uExist to make up for not riding up with him .i offered to take him to some Siggraph Parties.

I was going to meet up with Dave Kaul  after the shotgun/qube cocktail hour that most of my studio went too, and walk over to the Houdini Side FX party… by the time uExist and got with in a block of the Houdini party , Dave was on the move he wanted to check out the ILM party. so we meet up with the a few block over and started heading toward club Nokia .

When we got to Club Nokia at first we though it was just going to be easy walk in the first level of security just wanted to see that we were of age…..

then we got to level two. and were a little worried but acted cool.

ILM had tabled with guest lists ect .

but the people at the tables seemed to not even see  4 of us.

as we stood there waiting to be called ..

Dave just walked right in, when we were ignored, and the three of us followed.. no one stopped us ..  W00T ILM/Lucas arts party!

Met up with John Anderson who I used to work with at Digital Domain, he made a comment about how hard it is to get into the ILM party… 

all I can say to ILM..Open bar is pretty awesome.  the geek party charged $10.00 a drink the night before..

on the way home .. after the party uExist asked me .”. so…. what was the “Eelam” party about…”

….I said ,” I.L.M. party…?”

yeah that who was the ..

..um… Industrial Light and Magic , and Lucas Arts…… you know ..Star Wars…

Wednesday .

the studio was closed because they had a booth at siggraph and latter that night I had plans to start my track to Defcon in Vegas .

although plans changed several times .

I went to Siggraph early in the day got a few swaggy things   met up with some Professors  .

After that hoped a Train to San Diego to meet up with Dec0de one of the Defcon Goons to hitch a right with him, and the “ABC Asian”.. soon to be renamed C0b0lt.

C0b0lt, was very worried about traffic. i though he would be like some 45 or 50 year old guy the way he seemed so panicky about traffic he reminded my of an old lady…… and was kinda surprised he turned out to be in his 20′s sporting  a  pretty impressive urban peacock…

also on this ride .. it was let slip and my suspicions confirmed that hubby was coming out. .. this both excited and annoyed me .

I was excited because I miss my husband .

I was annoyed because i had already payed for a room and didn’t factor in buying 2 badges and 2 sets of meals .

C0b0lt ended up trading rooms and i got a hold of uExist to let him know of the change of plans .. C0b0lt..

was a little less graceful in changing his room accommodations..

Dear N00bs,

we understand you are new, it’s exciting, and you Do get a grace period to some degree,

BUT please use every precaution not to have to use the one “get out of hell free” card ..

ie, please make sure to CALL your roommates and touch base  if you switch-rooms because  it really messes up plans. and a facebook post is considered rude, like  a  text message breakup.

lucky everything was smoothed over for the most part and aside from a Rocky start C0lb0t ended up being pretty awesome .

as is customary at Defcon he participated in contests his first year  and actually did decent at Gringo Warrior , I was lucky to get to see that . .

we ended up running into each other normally just as he was about to call me to find me . he would look up and I’d be there…  fate karma what ever..

 Thursday was pretty cool. met up with Hubby after I got my badge i waited for about an hour+  in line ..  , when he got there with Pyro , I asked how was he getting his badge .

he said “eventually” .

I know how much he likes having it .

So I pulled out the monies for it and was about to hand it to Pyro to go wait in line since Simontek was Hungary and wanted to get something to eat after his flight. .

While standing next to one of our mutual  Goon friends, forewarned him I expected a badge or I would arrange a beat down

well as i was handing him the monies to go wait in Line.. A large force intercepted and moments latter was placing a shinny new badge in my hand… OK.. then..

……It was my birfday , don’t be too jealous….  .. I would also like to play my one” get out of hell free card” , for all parties involved

……up next the meeting of the Idiot…..

lunch at Denny’s .

for the record Denny’s has a $2,$4,$6 menu it’s a HELL of a lot cheaper then the hotels or buffets and it’s decent portions and food.

we met up with Capt Kirk<-awesome, Louis <-awesome, and from here out. i shall call him “Capt Asshat”<- NOT awesome ..

so i doodled  Capt Kirk’s badge it was there first year to Defcon and there from Wisconsin.  in exchange he paid for lunch,

“Capt Asshat” demanded abadge  he got one . but he was of course “Capt Asshat” and got the Denny’s staff to sing happy birthday to me .. it would be so bad if it was done discretly.. or the like.be he announced he was going to, we asked him to please not…. then he badgered the waitress into doing it.

like every time she came over “Capt Asshat”  would insist are you gonna do it??? do it!!!! like NOW do it!!!!

anyway when I he got up to go “potty” I told his roommate” ditch him”….. he will get you hurt here……  which he nearly did by the Goon Swim…

That afternoon we met up with Jessica a Doctoral student doing her thesis on hacker sub culture.

She was fun Simontek did an interview with her as we were waiting for our ride to the Toxic BBQ.

She was invited to come for the unofficial kick of and we piled into C0b0lts TINY car or any car seems tiny when Dec0de is involved ..

think like chewbacca , about as tall ,strong ,but not as hairy..

we swung by Pavilions and picked up meat , sangria and water melon.

then of to toxic . “Capt Asshat” showed up-again. he had no sense of humor.. and you really have to have a thick skin and sick sense of humor to hang with this group. his roommate were cool though..

Meat was really awesome.   and the sangria and water melon was perfect for a outside Vegas afternoon  in the park.

That night we went swimming and started prepping for the next day.
