from Ginger….
The last time I saw my Grandmother…
At 2:30AM on Saturday morning, my grandmother passed away. She was a sharp lady with a fire in her eyes. The last time I saw her, her body was frail, her hair matted and her nails yellowed and long. She has been physically, emotionally, and mentally abused for many years by her 2nd husband. I guess he finally got what he wanted…. He now is living in the house my REAL grandfather built with his whore, whom he cheated on my grandmother with… It’s a very sad situation for my family, and we have decided not to attend her funeral for many complicated reasons that I’d rather not explain. I can only remember my grandmother now for the wonderful lady she was before she met this evil man.
Virginia L. Hill, whom I was named for, was an incredibly intelligent lady with impeccable talent. She was an experienced knitter and quilt-maker who could play piano by ear. Originally in college to become a french teacher, she met my grandfather and eloped. My grandfather, Robert B. Hill Sr., passed away 32 years ago of an untimely heart attack. Grandma is now safe back in his arms in Heaven.
I miss her.
If you’re in NY and you ever met my grandma… please go to her funeral. It’s on Wednesday morning at 10AM at the Montgomery Presbyterian church…. I can’t be there…
Rest in Peace, Grandma. I love you.
